A committee commissioned by the University of Texas – Austin in November 2020 to explore the history and potential racial undertones of the school’s alma mater, “The Eyes of Texas” has concluded that its “intent…was not overtly racist,” and has also outlined broader strategies to better educate students on inclusion as well as commissioning a “special orchestration of “The Eyes” with (a) version composed or performed by a Black musician.”

Quinn Ewers, Southlake Carroll (TX) High School’s all-world quarterback, has announced his intent to sign with the Ohio State Buckeyes over the in-state Texas Longhorns after initially committing to Texas earlier this year, firmly burying the notion that Texas Longhorns football is of any consequence anymore.
According to a press release by the university, Baylor has fired Coach Art Briles, demoted President Ken Starr (although there were erroneous reports claiming him to be fired) and sanctioned Athletic Director Ian McCaw amid heinous off-the-field issues with players at their football program. Well that didn’t take long. After just under 2 years on the job, Texas Athletic Director Steve Patterson was fired this morning, according to Mark Schlabach of ESPN.
It’s only week 2, so we’re not at that “judgement week” yet. Granted, a few upsets here and there are helping us shape out the college football landscape a little clearer.
You can go the whole summer analyzing, dissecting what may or may not happen after week 1 of college football. Ironically, you end up with more questions than you did before. Let’s go over what we found out:
