Brownsville Native Omar Juarez Wins First Vegas Bout

/

Brownsville native Omar “El Relampago” Juarez defeated Kevin Shacks by way of knockout in the 6th round of their Super Lightweight (140 lbs) bout at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Juarez flashed his devastating combination of speed and power, delivering punishing body shots that scored him two knockdowns in the first round. Although Juarez slowed in the subsequent rounds, the 20-year old’s win was never in doubt even after suffering from what seemed to be a hyper-extended right elbow in the middle of the third round.

The fight was an undercard for the main event of the heavyweight rematch between Deontay Wilder and Luis Ortiz. The card will also feature fellow Valley boxing prospect, Brandon Figueroa.

With the knockout, Juarez moves to 6-0 in his career.
