According to a report by SB Nation, Floyd Mayweather was injected with 750 ml of saline and vitamins the day before the Pacquiao fight. The World Anti-Doping Agency does not allow injection over 50 ml per 6 hours.
Here’s where it get’s strange, Mayweather’s camp had asked the USADA, who was contracted to oversee the drug-testing for the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight, for an exception. Problem is, Mayweather applied for the exception on May 19th. The USADA approved the exemption and didn’t notify the Nevada State Athletic Commission, who commissioned the fight, until May 21st. NSAC has stated that the USADA has no authority to grant these kinds of exceptions.
Mayweather’s camp apparently told the USADA that the injections were for dehydration after the weigh-in.
This is all kinda confusing so this timeline should help make this a little more clear:
This comes at the heels of an underwhelming campaign to try and push his “final fight” against Andre Berto
