FBI and federal court documents confirm that McAllen DEA Agent James Patrick Burke has been charged with accessing child pornography after FBI raided his home on Friday.

“Burke currently is employed as an agent with the DEA and assigned to the McAllen Office,” said Wendell Campbell, a spokesman for the DEA’s Houston Division. “Right now, Burke is on administrative leave.”
“Burke admitted that he viewed and downloaded videos on numerous occasions using his laptop computer,” according to the criminal complaint. “Burke further admitted that these videos depicted children as young as 10 years of age engaging in sexually explicit conduct with adults.”
During an initial appearance on Monday, federal Magistrate Judge Dorina Ramos remanded Burke to custody and scheduled a detention hearing for Aug. 20.
Granted, Agent Burke didn’t work for a local agency, however his name is just another to put on the pile of local RGV authorities that continue to smear the reputation corrupt ridden region.
