Chris Webber. Peja Stojakovic. Mike Bibby. Vlade Divak. To a 14 year-old Mavericks fan like I was, their names may as well had been Boogie-Man, Demon, Satan, and well…Vlade. THESE were the Sacramento Kings. Good for 100 a night, put your paycheck on it. I hated them. I hated them because they were GOOD. I hated how their fans would bang those stupid cowbells, and I hated that they couldn’t kill the Lakers when they had the chance.
I was actually glad when Sacramento was on the brink of losing their team to (ughh) Seattle, because you know what(?) fuck the Kings. I was happy when I saw them slowly die and drain themselves to the bottom of the NBA basement and toasted to a good life for every time they shot themselves in the foot. JIMMER!!
But now this is getting sad, because Sacramento Kings owner Vivek Ranadive is a maniacal asshole who is worse than the worst boss you ever had. When he bought the Sacramento Kings from the Loofa-Maloof bros. in 2013, he promised to keep the Kings in Sacramento and build a winner. This guy seriously believes that just because he was able to coach is little girl’s junior basketball team to a championship, that he’s got this whole NBA thing down. He doesn’t. This guys trying to “Moneyball” the NBA and it’s going miserably.
It wasn’t long before he was already making terrible suggestions for court play that, as you’d expect, would turn out to have failed miserably. Ranadive is the annoying bar owner who won’t let the manager, manage.
This is the same guy who fired his coach for “not meeting win-loss expectations” with a garbage team that the guy led to a 9-5 start with and survived the next 9 games without DeMarcus Cousins in the West.
And now he’s pissed on all four corners of this NEW hot mess that he created between DeMarcus Cousins and George Karl. Just some background, DeMarcus Cousins’ camp gave Ranadive push back when hiring Karl back in February. Over the summer, Karl demanded Cousins be traded, to which Ranadive said “fuck that,” and thought to remove Karl in favor of some asshole in Kentucky.
And what does DeMarcus have to say about this? Not much.
It takes real talent to take a huge mess and turn it into a bigger shit-pool than when you started; the straw that stirred that drink was Ranadive.
