A lot of things to un-pack here. For starters, we have a name and location for this potential club: P. Women’s Club, 100 East Pecan Boulevard, McAllen, TX.

A brief look into their employer profile on Indeed showed only the one job posting and not much else information and a Google search for “P. Women’s Club” yielded a duplicate posting on Simply Hired, and virtually nothing else; no social media profiles, press releases, nothing. A Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts Taxable Entity search returned no results for different punctuation variations of “P. Women’s Club.” Searches for full spellings of the business name also yielded no results. Nothing for Proper Women’s Club. Nothing for Putos Women’s Club. Penis-y Women’s Club? Nothing.

With the business name search coming up flaccid, the next step was to look into the address, 100 East Pecan Boulevard, McAllen, TX. A Google search resulted in various dental-oriented business listings, however, upon further research, the listings all seemingly belong to Rio Grande Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. A quick call to the business verified that the business was still located at that address and had no plans on leaving.

After finding this out, my suspicions began to grow that this was just another scam post on Indeed. However, drawing from my own experience hiring with them, I know, first-hand, that employers who post on Indeed are required to submit SOMETHING to prove that they are a legitimate business, whether it be some LLC formation document, a website, or a phone interview with a live operator. I also realized that, by default, Indeed will label the job address for McAllen as “100 East Pecan,” because this address so happens to be in the middle of the city.

With all other options exhausted, the only thing I had left to do was to apply. So, for the sake of spreading the cheeks of this story wide-open, I created a profile and resume for Indeed.

After applying, I was prompted to add when I’d be available for an interview and answered the only way that felt right

But instead of waiting for a call-back, I figured I’d just message the employer through Indeed.

About 15 minutes after my initial message inquiring more about the position and the club, a person named Jorge Maldonado replied with, “The club it’s a strip club for females to go see guys dancing. You are applying for the position of stripper.” I inquired further on the location and learned from Maldonado that the prudes at the City of McAllen with their, ironically, dick-eating ordinances would make the project a no-go within the city limits, specifically, with their stringent geographical restrictions on sexually oriented businesses. However, Maldonado also added that “the club will be open further east in between La feria (SIC) and Harlingen,” following similar stringent restrictions in Mission before finally settling on the Cameron County area.

The area between La Feria and Harlingen currently has several sexually oriented businesses.

A brief call between Maldonado and his wife Pamela, yielded even more details as they mentioned that the name of the club has since been changed from “P. Women’s Club” to an undisclosed name and that they are currently expect to be open, pending permits and licensing, sometime before the end of the year.

When asked more information about the club, Maldonado stated that they were looking to hire a choreographer and stated that the motif of the club would be akin to more of “a show,” and “entertainment” while also allowing the performers to be more available and accessible to their patrons and to make the experience more “personal.”

CASO CERRADO!

So there you have it. The Valley’s first male strip club is a go.

Obviously, we’ll be following up with this story in the coming few months, but until then, we wait in growing (and showing) anticipation.
