Your 2016 Texas RGV Primary Results

/

Last night was the Texas Primary, but with the Valley being so entrenched in blue, it was basically election day for most candidates.

Here’s the list of results that mattered locally:

U.S. REP. DISTRICT 15 Statewide DEM
Vicente “El Chente, Diabólicamente, Con La Gente” Gonzalez 22,122 42%
Juan Palacios Jr. 9,907 19%
Dolly Elizondo 8,881 17%
Joel Quintanilla 6,144 12%
Ruben Ramirez 3,146 6%
Rance G. Sweeten 2,218 4%

Turns out that Vicente’s aggressive, ‘I will buy ad time in your dreams’ campaign worked out, as he easily took out Sonny by more than twice as many votes.

STATE REPRESENTATIVE, DISTRICT 36 Statewide DEM
Sergio Muñoz, Jr. 7,444 60%
Abraham Padron 4,949 40%

I must have gotten a million advertised posts from a Facebook page that’s mysteriously been taken down that included a video of Sergio Muñoz Jr. being “anti-law enforcement.” Although the FB page is gone, some group/guy/vigilante named “Project X” still has the video up on YouTube:

COMMISSIONER, PCT 1 Hidalgo County DEM
David Fuentes 10,235 51%
AC Cuellar, Jr. (I) 9,947 49%

In what was the closest race of the night, Weslaco ISD Board President knocked out incumbent AC Cuellar Jr. by only 288 votes.

U.S. REP. DISTRICT 28 Statewide DEM
Henry Cuellar 49,962 90%
William R. Hayward 5,682 10%

Hayward could have ran against a ham sandwich and still lost. Jesus.

Anyway, here’s the list of all the results:
